What does the fan electricity calculator show you?

Fans are the most-used electrical appliance in India — a typical home runs three or four of them for ten or more hours a day through much of the year. Individually each fan is cheap to run, which is exactly why their combined cost sneaks past unnoticed. This calculator adds up all your fans at once: you pick the fan type, the speed setting you normally use, how many fans you own, and daily hours, and it returns the combined units and cost for the whole home.

How fan electricity consumption is calculated

The principle is the same simple power formula, applied to a fleet of fans instead of a single appliance:

  • Effective draw = fan wattage × speed percentage
  • Combined draw = effective draw × number of fans
  • Units/month = (combined watts ÷ 1,000) × hours/day × days

Take four conventional ceiling fans at 70W each, run at 80% speed for 12 hours a day: 70 × 0.8 × 4 = 224W effective, over 12 hours that's ~2.7 units/day, about 81 units a month — roughly ₹567 at ₹7/unit. BLDC (brushless DC) motors are the quiet revolution in ceiling fans. A conventional fan with a capacitor-start motor draws 70–80W even on older models; a comparable BLDC fan runs at 28–45W — roughly 40–55% less.
