UP bill — quick answers
Is there a free-units scheme in UP?
No — UPERC's FY 2026-27 domestic order embeds the subsidy inside the net slab rates instead of granting free units, which is why UP's base slabs are so low. There is no separate free-unit credit to apply.
NPCL or UPPCL — which am I under?
If you're in Noida/Greater Noida it's NPCL; elsewhere one of the five zonal DISCOMs. The dropdown covers all of them.

Uttar Pradesh electricity bill calculator — how your bijli bill is built
Uttar Pradesh is served by UPPCL and its zone utilities — DVVNL (Kanpur), MVVNL (Lucknow), PuVVNL (west), PVVNL (east) and the private NPCL (Noida). Domestic LMV-1 rural net rates (FY 2026-27, state subsidy embedded) are ₹3.35 (0–100), ₹3.85 (101–150), ₹5.00 (151–300) and ₹5.50 (301+) per unit with a ₹90/kW fixed charge, ₹20 meter rent, 5% electricity duty and ₹0.25/unit FAC. Urban connections bill a separate low ladder (₹5.50/₹6.00/₹6.50) with a ₹110/kW fixed charge.
From Kanpur to Varanasi the tariff is state-wide, so the same slab ladder applies in every district — only the zone name on your bill changes.
Example: your Uttar Pradesh bill for 250 units
Take a Uttar Pradesh household using 250 units in one month on UPPCL (state-wide). The telescopic energy charge is 100 × ₹3.35 + 50 × ₹3.85 + 100 × ₹5 = ₹1027.50. Add the fixed charge (₹180.00), FAC (₹62.50) and electricity duty (₹64.50) — that gives a gross bill of ₹1354.50. With no subsidy in this state, ₹1354.50 is your payable.
Here is the same 250 units across every DISCOM in Uttar Pradesh — useful when your board's name differs from the common one:
| DISCOM | Energy | Fixed | FAC | Duty | Subsidy | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UPPCL (state-wide) | ₹1027.50 | ₹180.00 | ₹62.50 | ₹64.50 | — | ₹1354.50 |
| DVVNL (Kanpur) | ₹1027.50 | ₹180.00 | ₹62.50 | ₹64.50 | — | ₹1354.50 |
| MVVNL (Lucknow) | ₹1027.50 | ₹180.00 | ₹62.50 | ₹64.50 | — | ₹1354.50 |
| PuVVNL (West) | ₹1027.50 | ₹180.00 | ₹62.50 | ₹64.50 | — | ₹1354.50 |
| PVVNL (East) | ₹1027.50 | ₹180.00 | ₹62.50 | ₹64.50 | — | ₹1354.50 |
| NPCL (Noida) | ₹1027.50 | ₹180.00 | ₹62.50 | ₹64.50 | — | ₹1354.50 |
Uttar Pradesh subsidy / free-unit scheme
UP does not give free units. The government's Bijli Raahat subsidy (₹3.70/unit on rural 0–100 units, ₹3.50 on rural 101–150, ₹3.75 lifeline) is embedded in the net rates you see in the calculator — the price you pay is already the subsidised one.
Uttar Pradesh tariff details — live data
The table below is generated from the same data the calculator uses, so what you see here is exactly what is charged. Looking for the per-unit electricity price in The slab column IS your per-unit rate — each rate applies only to the units inside its own slab range.

Remember: in telescopic billing each slab rate applies only to the units inside its range. Many websites multiply one rate by total units — that is wrong and overstates bills. This calculator, like your DISCOM, adds slab by slab.
4 practical ways to lower your Uttar Pradesh bill
- The biggest rate jump is at 150 units (₹3.85 → ₹5.00) — keep the geyser efficient to stay under it.
- Several urban zones run prepayment options; paying early avoids interest on arrears.
- Run fans and motors during the flat day and the washing machine after peak hours.
- The slab above 300 units jumps to ₹5.50 — that is the biggest lever in a UP household.
Quick questions about Uttar Pradesh bills
Does UP give free units?
No — UP has no free-units scheme. Relief comes as a per-unit state subsidy already built into the LMV-1 net rates (₹3.70/unit ≤100 rural, ₹3.50 rural 101–150, ₹3.75 lifeline), so no separate credit line appears.
Which zone is my district in?
DVVNL: Kanpur and the middle; MVVNL: Lucknow belt; PuVVNL: Meerut–Bareilly (west); PVVNL: Agra–Aligarh (east); NPCL: Noida/Gautam Buddha Nagar.
What are the fixed charge and FAC?
₹90/kW of sanctioned load (rural LMV-1; ₹110/kW urban), plus a ₹20 meter rent, 5% electricity duty and ₹0.25/unit FAC — all shown as item lines in this estimate.
Is there a rebate for paying early?
A few boards offer small early-payment incentives; our base estimate excludes them, so your actual bill is usually equal or a touch lower.
