Andaman & Nicobar electricity bill calculator — how your bijli bill is built
The Electricity Department of A&N bills the islands under the JERC multi-year tariff (FY 2025-26 to 2029-30, order of 28 October 2025, effective 1 November 2025). Main domestic connections (Service-II) pay ₹4.20 (0–100), ₹7.50 (101–200), ₹10.90 (201–500), ₹11.90 (501–1000) and ₹12.90 (1000+) per unit with a ₹29.75/kW fixed charge; lifeline Service-I connections pay a flat ₹3.00/unit up to 100 units.
Port Blair and the islands share one UT tariff for an off-grid, diesel-backed grid — which is why the top slabs are among India's highest.
Example: your Andaman & Nicobar bill for 250 units
Take a Andaman & Nicobar household using 250 units in one month on Electricity Dept A&N (LTDS-II). The telescopic energy charge is 100 × ₹4.2 + 100 × ₹7.5 + 50 × ₹10.9 = ₹1715.00. Add the fixed charge (₹59.50), FAC (₹0.00) — that gives a gross bill of ₹1774.50. With no subsidy in this state, ₹1774.50 is your payable.
Here is the same 250 units across every DISCOM in Andaman & Nicobar — useful when your board's name differs from the common one:
| DISCOM | Energy | Fixed | FAC | Duty | Subsidy | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Electricity Dept A&N (LTDS-II) | ₹1715.00 | ₹59.50 | ₹0.00 | ₹0.00 | — | ₹1774.50 |
Does Andaman & Nicobar offer a free-unit scheme?
Andaman & Nicobar currently bills without a domestic free-unit subsidy, so the calculator's checkbox stays off and no green deduction line appears. That is tariff design, not an error — the energy charge is collected in full and the fixed charge, FAC and duty apply on top. If the state announces a scheme, we add it to the data and the toggle lights up automatically.
Andaman & Nicobar tariff details — live data
The table below is generated from the same data the calculator uses, so what you see here is exactly what is charged. Looking for the per-unit electricity price in The slab column IS your per-unit rate — each rate applies only to the units inside its own slab range.
| DISCOM | Slabs | Fixed charge | FAC |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electricity Dept A&N (LTDS-II) | 1–100 @ ₹4.2, 101–200 @ ₹7.5, 201–500 @ ₹10.9, 501–1000 @ ₹11.9, 1001–above 1001 @ ₹12.9 | ₹29.75/kW load | ₹0/unit |
Remember: in telescopic billing each slab rate applies only to the units inside its range. Many websites multiply one rate by total units — that is wrong and overstates bills. This calculator, like your DISCOM, adds slab by slab.
4 practical ways to lower your Andaman & Nicobar bill
- Island power is diesel-expensive — every LED bulb counts twice; stay under 100 units to ride the ₹4.20 band.
- The 200-unit boundary is the big cliff: ₹7.50 jumps to ₹10.90 beyond it.
- AC in the tropics: 26°C + fan saves the most units, and units here cost the most.
- Solar is expanding on the islands; a small plant directly offsets fuel-based power.
